with zest, this challenge
comes to a close; but quite near
new ones, with zest, wait
Greetings to all my haiku writing friends the world over. My heartfelt thanks to all those who graced the second Heights of Haiku challenge, this time called "The April Heights". Every day of a wonderful month of April, quite a lot of us wrote a haiku. Some graced just one day, some a few days, and others went all the way and wrote each day of the month. The support to this challenge was so overwhelming that whoever had planned on reading all poems of all topics, (myself included) fell behind on that. On a quick glance at my Inlinkz dashboard, I can see that on an average, we had atleast 40 entries per prompt. That's really amazing.
We had writers new to the form, like Invisible Silence, attempt it, start out on a wrong note but blossom into writing some wonderful haiku. We had writers like Gemma Wiseman, Ramesh Sood, MMT, Grace, Becca and others, who have been supporting this meme since its early days, and they helped other new writers find their haiku feet. I think this interaction has only helped the meme and the writers become better and more well acquainted.
Though there has been a request to put the challenge again for May, I wish to keep the meme as it is, a weekly one with two months of challenge, in April and in September. I hope to see all writers back for the weekly topics that start again on this Saturday.
Cheers and hope your week continues on a good note.
Leo.
P.S. : The theme for the week beginning May 5, 2012 is HOUR.

Leo, thanks for hosting this wonderful event! I had a great month of poetry.
It was really a challenge Leo. I can't wait 'till september, but 'till then I will try to write an every week haiku on a given prompt.
Thanks for giving me and a lot of other haiku poets the opportunity to share their verses.
Namaste

Thanks Leo, it had been a very interesting month of haiku...and somehow one could keep the momentum going.. I for one as usual often tried to place my haiku latest by 0030 hrs..and I think I succeeded too ..such was the pull and encouragement from the participants..you are right.. it was so difficult to read each and every entry..but then I was happy to have met some wonderful new writers...each challenge, right from SiS's has taught me to think with in the confines of few syllables.. this time I was encouraged by fellow poets to even try 2-3-2 haiku..ah, what fun it has been...I join you in congratulating every participant for making this month one of the most creative and happening months for me and I am sure for everyone else and for Haiku Heights too.. KEEP INSPIRING, LEO..YOU ARE A GIVER.. RS:)

Thank you Leo, my first weeks at Haiku Heights were interesting and fun. Sharing haiku this way appears to be very inspiring and worth while.
Dear Leo... I learnt a lot aout Haiku and succeeded in writing haiku eventually... ALl that would not have been possible without the support and encouraging comments from the fellow poets... Thanks a ton to all....
Leo, thank you. I didn't anticipate writing a haiku/senyru every day in April, but that's what I ended up doing. And I really enjoyed it. I appreciate the poets who came to my blog, and I enjoyed discovering new poets to read this month.
Richard
See what you can do, Richard, when you put pen and heart and mind to paper? :)
I had a splendid time creating all the haiku... the topics were simple yet thoughtful. Thanks a lot everyone who encouraged me to write and appreciated my efforts...
