Welcome to Haiku Heights!

Welcome to Haiku Heights, a place for weekly Haiku prompts. Every Saturday, some time between 9AM and 12PM IST, I'll give a word as the theme for the week's haiku. You are free to use it as you feel appropriate (in a Haiku, or Senryu ; not a free verse). You can use the word, or build upon its meaning, the only rule here is that it should sync with the topic.! We hope you enjoy sharing your haiku with us here each week.

If you are a contributor here, you can also suggest topics for future prompts. I'll save your suggestions and pick up one from the list at random each Sunday! You can suggest at the prompt suggestions page.

Prompt #1 - Moments

Welcome to the inaugural prompt here at HH.

A moment can change a lot of things. The thought to bring forth this Haiku meme blog happened in a moment too. The theme for the first Haiku Heights prompt is Moments.

The badges are newly arrived, and can be found on the sidebar. The code for the smaller badge is there too. Have fun writing! You can suggest themes too, in your comment. I'll save them to a word file, and perhaps pick up from them for future prompts.

The Haiku Heights linky for week 1 has expired. If you wish to write a haiku on Moments and submit, please do so with a comment.

The Week 1 Participants are:
Gemma@Greyscale, Rinkly Rimes, Leo, Amity, Rumya, Leo(Take2), Deepak, tikulicious, Shweta, inkwell whispers, Harshad, Nanka, Someone is Special, Amity(Take2), Mia Mirza, Mia Mirza(Take2), Miss Meduri and Vibhuti B

Week 2 Prompt will be up in 4 hours from now! :)

Cheers,
Leo.

I'm a novice at haiku writing but I'll persevere and hope to improve. I fimd rhyming so much easier. But I feel gleeful at having been the first of the first!!

Yay! haiku prompts. I was really missing haikubones. Sometimes I will post in inkwell whispers, my more haiku-like blog, or sometimes at Http://theoddinkwell.com/ ,my "found poetry" blog.
Here is my moment.
Just for the record, I do not pay attention to syllable count, opting instead for flavor and bervity. Hope you like it.
I am so excited.
